The Aggies' 12th AND 13th Men

Poor Huskers.  Poor Coach Pelini.  Poor blind officials.  Don't get me wrong.  It is somewhat satisfying to watch in wonderment if Coach Bo Pelini will actually be the first human being to launch into orbit by his own personal powers.  And by powers, I am referring to his uncanny ability to look as if he caught a bandit red-handed, robbing his home, stealing his car, and kicking his puppy, all at the same time.  Personally, I'd get over the stuff, but if you kick my dog, I am going to unleash my inner Pelini with a force never witnessed on this earth heretofore.

In fairness, Coach Pelini has a reason to be completely livid.  If you did not click the link to the left of this sentence, do so now......................That right there should have been a penalty on the Aggies, but per the usual, the refs saw the retaliation, not the instigator, which was one Tony Jerod-Eddie.  You sir, are a coward of a football player.  Going after another player's junk?  First the TSA and now you?  Notice the official could not see Jerod-Eddie sexually assault Ben Cotton at the bottom of that pile.  That is bush league antics which should earn Jerod-Eddie a suspension for the upcoming game against the Longhorns.  The other egregious call against the Men of Corn was a disaster of a "Roughing the Passer" penalty which made it look like the fix was in.  For the record, the Huskers got flagged 16 times while the Aggies only suffered 2 penalties the entire game.  Needless to say, Husker Nation is none too happy.  Nor should they be.....

I'm not here to debate whether the refs helped determine the outcome of the game.  Most Husker fans will vote yes, while Aggies will check the box labeled "no."  As a college football fan, it appears to me that the refs did influence the game "more than they should have."  Look, the bottom line is when you lose a game 9-6, it's hard to argue that you got jobbed by the refs and the loss was a direct result of the atrocious officiating.  It also does not help that Coach Pelini felt that a hobbling, injured Taylor Martinez was a better option at QB against the Aggies, over a healthy and mobile Cody Green.  That was a coaching fail.  Fact.  It's also a rarity that the head coach can draw the yellow laundry for getting after the side judge with such ferocity, that of which had not been seen since Rex Ryan devoured the snack box at training camp.

Call this karma for Nebraska holding the Big XII's feet to the fire this past summer while announcing they were defecting to the Big 10 in 2011.  This move caused the Aggies to threaten to join the SEC (will never happen), the PAC 10 to seek out six teams from our conference to join theirs (had to settle for Utah and Colorado), and Texas to ink their own network deal with ESPN.  So from us to you, a big hearty thank you.  We hope you enjoyed your 0-2 romp through the state of Texas this season.  Hook'em and Gig'em.

Husker Nation, your coach's antics are taking over your program.  They are becoming the focal point and the face of your football team.  This is not a good thing.  I know you think Don Beebe and the evil Big XII are out to get you and ensure that Big Red does not represent the conference "if at all possible."  That's not the deal.  Sadly, Pelini is a distraction to your players, officials, and fans alike.  The dude has to figure out a way to dial it down.

  1. I hope you're not already making excuses for t.u.'s loss next week (get your microscope out). If you've ever been to a Nebraska game, you know the "antics" they're guilty of. To me, it appears that we're going to go back to the late 80's and early 90's when t.u. couldn't field a team...keep blaming OU for everything...keep your snob noses in the air and avoid the obvious...your Ag brethren are once again going to destroy t.u. for a long period. Yes, keep Austin weird and "california-ish," all the better for we Texans who understand what it means to be a Texan.

  2. I wonder if the vid of Pelini mouthing to the line judge..."f*!% you and f$!% the rest of you" is on the web. Agreed the roughing the passer call was cheesy, but the guy acted like a titty baby.

  3. It doesnt matter when the ball lands buddy, its all about when the refs blow the whistle and the fact the rules state that only mistakes in clock management can be reviewed. The clock operator can not anticipate a whistle or clock stoppage, it would open the door for reviews of EVERY incomplete pass. do you really want that? or just the second that got away from your star quarterback? as it applies to your team and pride.
