Quick, Grab the Duct Tape - ObamaCare Edition

In the beginning, most ideas seem great in theory. The idea that every single American would have affordable health insurance sounds wonderful on the surface. There is one small problem here. It is unconstitutional to force Americans to purchase insurance. Most will quip, "but what about auto insurance? States mandate you carry liability insurance in case you are at fault in an accident." The glaring difference here is driving is a privilege. Nobody is forced to purchase a vehicle. We do this for personal freedom and convenience. Further proof, the lender forces to you carry comprehensive coverage if the vehicle is financed so they can be covered during a major loss. The state does not force this extra coverage, the lender does as it is a privilege to receive a loan in exchange for a lump sum of money to acquire a specific item. The lender has exposure here and they should be covered.

The bottom line here is simple: the controversial ObamaCare, marketed as the "Affordable Care Act," has been struck down by two Republican judges and upheld by two Democrat judges. It will eventually wind up on the docket of the Supreme Court, where I predict it will be abolished in a 5-4 decision, with Justice Kennedy offering the deciding vote as to the law being unconstitutional. What we have here are philosophical differences. Obama claims that your medical premiums will go down. My question to you is, from where? I just received a notice from my insurer, Blue of CA. Quick, grab the duct tape.

I'm in excellent health, a non-smoker, 41 years of age, and my premiums will increase 21.8% on March 11, 2011 "due to hospital expenses, doctor charges, and prescription drug prices." Just think, we have three more years of "preparatory hikes" before insurers will begin "reducing" their premiums to comply with the law. Excuse me, but WTF followed by YGTBFKM! Alright Obama, do you really want to drill down as to the problems plaguing Americans, or are you going to continue to propagate your agenda of a bigger, "smarter" government which is becoming more intrusive into our lives? Are you going to challenge the lobbyists from the insurance industry and offer a true national commerce for this industry? Can you tell me why a firm in Deleware cannot offer me health coverage since I am a California resident? Do you think that might help reduce prices? Why am I landlocked into CA insurers as to who I can seek out regarding my coverage provider? It is quite easy for a few firms to collude to keep prices up. Last I checked, insurance CEO's are doing quite well. I have very few worthy options. Mr. President, competition lowers prices, not government intervention.

I understand the spirit of this desire by the Obama Administration. But, again they are missing the mark. The issue is not the lack of insurance coverage amongst Americans. The glaring elephant in the room is the ambulance chasing attorneys which want to sue a doctor for $10 million based on human error. Thus, this business operator is required to carry gargantuan amounts of liability coverage which, in turn, is passed on to their customers, of which the insurance industry is the largest network. But, many doctors are not free from fault at driving up costs. Try this experiment: call a physician's office and let them know you need to schedule an appointment about an issue which may be troubling you. Also, let them know that you are a cash patient. Many doctors will charge you less since they are not billing an insurer. Now, ask yourself: why is this? Same procedure(s) performed, yet varying billing platforms based on the paying entity. How is this legitimate? The docs are bilking the insurers for more money, so they can keep up their lifestyle, cover their asses with their own umbrella policies, which offer protection from the attorneys who seek to hold them to the epitome of responsibility, where epitome equates to a dollar sign followed by a substantial set of zeroes.

The vicious cycle above repeats itself and becomes ever expansive due to large corporations like Blue of CA looking at funds from a business perspective rather than a human, personal one. Small business owners understand waste. Traveler's Insurance doesn't. How many of you don't bat an eye when it comes to wasting something in your office, but manage your household on a stricter level? It's human nature as it is not yours. And with that statement, we get to the very bottom of this issue: the government does not manage money and/or waste effectively. The "trustworthy" government has run up a $14,000,000,000,000+ deficit with no end in sight, yet somehow, they are going to implement, require, manage, and lower health care premiums across the nation. Do you actually buy this? I don't and cannot fathom how anyone can.
